Good morning!! Happy Black Friday to all of you shoppers out there!! I hope all of you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
I certainly had a great day yesterday, and I don’t know about you, but I was stuffed!! Did you eat all the yummy food?
My day started when Michael got home from work a little after 7am. I had cinnamon rolls baking in the oven for him for a sweet Thanksgiving breakfast treat. (I usually do this on Thanksgiving and Christmas) Oh boy did they smell heavenly!!
I ran 3.5 miles on my treadmill, and it felt glorious to get moving and sweaty before the festivities began! I spent my morning sipping my Dunkin’ coffee watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’s something I do every Thanksgiving, do you watch the parade too? Or something else? Once the parade was over, and Michael woke up for the day, it was time to get ready to go over to my parent’s house!
Thanksgiving and Christmas have looked a little different over the years with loved ones passing, but usually Thanksgiving has been held at my parent’s house with my parents (obv), my sister, my brother in law, my two cute nephews, my brother, my Pepere, my Aunt, and my cousin. It isn’t a lot, but it is just right for us! My Mom gets food catered from Sean Patricks, a nearby restaurant that has delicious Thanksgiving Day food! We always have Thanksgiving “dinner” for lunch, which means we eat ALL DAY LONG! Anyone else?! I don’t think we have ever had a “Thanksgiving dinner” ever. It’s always been lunch. I think this is normally what happens? And then for dinner you go for round 2!
I was definitely grateful to have my husband with us this year. Each year Michael usually works all day and night on Thanksgiving so he is never able to come to our family Thanksgiving meal. Last year, however, he did get to come eat really quick before heading to work. But, this year was just fantastic!! I can’t believe it is our second Thanksgiving married!! (Time is going by SO fast!!)
Anyways, onto the FOOD!! We got a huge turkey, stuffing, butternut squash, carrots, and mashed potatoes. My sister made lasagna and my mom made a regular salad. Oh, and silly me, I brought along a huge fruit salad, that I forgot to snap a picture of. Huge blogger fail-I also forgot to snap pictures of our plates, but just imagine a plate filled with ALL the things for Michael, and mine was filled with lots of veggies, salad, and fruit!
Oh, and we can’t forget about dessert!! We got apple pie (unpictured) and I made my “Chocolate Pudding Squares” for everyone! These are SO easy to make, I promise!! I will share the recipe in another post, but I am so serious when I say these things are easy to make…you can hardly call it a recipe.
It was a wonderful afternoon spent with my amazing family. I am truly blessed with the most loving and supportive family. We are all very close, so whenever we get together for the holidays it feels just like any other day. The boys made our time extra special! Of course, they loved that Uncle Michael was there!
Enzo was the life of the party and was putting a show on for all of us. He figured out how to turn on the Mario Kart light up box that I got my brother for Christmas last year, and put his arms up saying yay every time. He was so proud of himself! TOO CUTE!
After a couple hours, Michael and I came back home to watch football and lazy around on the couch for the rest of the day…and eat more. 😉 We also rented the movie The Hitman’s Bodyguard to watch. We have been wanting to see it ever since it came out in theaters a while ago, and just like we had hoped it was a good movie!
It was a great Thanksgiving, and on day twenty three, I was so thankful ALL day long for having Michael with me! (Side note, I think I missed a couple days of posting what I am thankful for, but don’t worry…each day I am still keeping track of what I am thankful for, and on Thursday, Nov. 30, I will share a round up of all of my days!) Are you keeping track of what you are thankful for?
