Hey hey! Happy Thursday! For some reason since yesterday, I kept thinking today was Friday…and I actually just typed “Happy Friday” and had to erase it when I came to the realization it is only Thursday. Whomp whomp.
This morning I am feeling pretty gosh darn tired. I am ready for a little break during Christmas! What about you? Do you get some time off from work? I must say, I miss having Christmas vacation when I was a teacher, and especially miss that long break during college! Oh, the joy of retail. Despite my tiredness, and as much as I wanted to stay in bed this morning, I got my butt in motion and ran for 40 minutes on my treadmill. After I was done, I definitely didn’t regret it. But I see LOTS of coffee in my future for today…
Apparently we are going to get snow tomorrow and then freezing rain on Saturday. Yikes! I must get all of our Christmas stuff done TODAY!
Side note: I am in need of starting another book, as I have been reading books speedy fast lately! (Seriously, books have been read in the matter of 2 days, my friends) Do you have any book recommendations that I need to dig myself into?
It was by far the coldest day of them all and I was really glad we were going home. (Which never ever happens when we are away, I think I have had enough of the big city.) We both wanted our final breakfast meal to be at our favorite restaurant, Good Enough To Eat, but the walk was brutal guys…brutal. The hand and foot warmers barely did anything and I was still numb all over. That wind was MAD!
We ate our yummy breakfast (which I didn’t take a picture of because I was frozen, just pretend there is a picture like from day two minus the apple pancake and imagine regular pancakes!) and froze our butts off on our walk back to the hotel room to relax and get our stuff together before checking out of the hotel, Hotel Beacon.
Ok, and now here where things turn South, my friends. Let me try to explain it to you in a calm way… Michael was on the bed watching tv, stalling as much time as he could before we had to leave, and I was walking around our room making sure we packed up everything, when I spotted some “beetle” in the living room area. Guys, IT WAS NO BEETLE! It was a huge COCKROACH, just hanging out in our room having a grand old time in the warmth. WTF. NO THANK YOU! As soon as I saw that I told Michael to come over to where I was really quick and that we are leaving NOW, he said “No, we can leave in 10 minutes”, but I told him to get his little bum over there so he could see why I want to leave NOW. He saw that thing, took a picture of it, and we got ourselves out of there. I cannot believe there was a COCKROACH in our room. I don’t even want to think about how long it was in there and what the heck it was doing or where it was AT NIGHT when we were sleeping. OMG. I cringe all over. When we got downstairs to check out, I explained to the employee what we just say and literally said “I have a big, big problem right now.” He apologized and took off one night of our stay on our bill. One night. I am surprised they did anything, but ultimately I wish they could have done a little bit more than that. The thought of a COCKROACH in our room was not okay with me and it still is not sitting well with me. I wish I could say that I loved our stay at Hotel Beacon, but I cannot. I wish I could say that Hotel Beacon will always be our go to hotel for NYC, but we will never stay there again. I don’t think we will be going back to the city for a very long time. There were just so so many people, and as much as I love being able to walk everywhere, it is SO NOT FUN to do so in the freezing cold. And unless you want to be stuck in hours of traffic when it should have only taken maybe 20 minutes to get to your destination in a taxi or uber, you have to walk. Maybe if there were no cockroach in our room I would feel differently, since that was totally a bad way to end our getaway.
All in all, our time in NYC was good, despite the gross cockroach, and I loved all of the Christmas decorations!! There really is something special about Christmastime in the city, but I still think Christmas in Disney World is better. 😉
Have a fabulous day!! XOXO ♥♥
