Happy FRIDAY!! I hope you have had a good week! Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Mine doesn’t start until tomorrow afternoon, but I am definitely looking forward to it. I think Michael is supposed to have Sunday and Monday off….praying this happens!
Sorry for the short hiatus yesterday, I meant to pop on the blog with a post, but I decided to just unplug for a little bit during the day yesterday. It was great; you should try it 😉
I also did something yesterday that I have never done before; I went to counseling. I don’t really know why I haven’t done this before, but I think it was just the point of reaching out and asking for help. Because let’s be honest, I don’t really like to ask for help, that shows weakness. And that all ties in with feeling “imperfect’ and “less than”, but I did it, and I am going to continue. You should know by now I have anxiety and I get overwhelmed at times when I feel like I am not in control, or just times when something is going on which then makes me get really stressed out. So, that is why (well, other reasons too, like to strengthen my marriage too) I am seeking help! Do you go to therapy/counseling? Have you ever thought about going?
I was told something that is greater than gold and something that I need to shout from the mountaintops and stick in my head to remind myself daily: We aren’t meant to carry things that are too stressful, make us anxious, or things that feel too overwhelming. We must give it over to God. And I’m talking about whole-heartedly giving it to Him; not trying to control the situation and “still giving it to God”. You know that quote “Give it to God and go to sleep”? Well, Give it to God and LIVE!!! Or go to sleep, whatever. 😉 We must give up the control (something that obviously I have issues with) and let Him take control.
When we feel a burden, when we feel anxious, overwhelmed, or just very stressed about something in our lives, it’s because we haven’t given it over to Him. If we have, but we try to still control it, that isn’t really giving it to Him. This will always bring us feelings of heaviness and feelings that are too overwhelming, because He never designed us to take on what He has promised to care for and get us through.
We need to trust Him. We need to literally give it to Him and let it rest, not trying to control anything, knowing that He is taking care of what He has promised to take care of. We were literally never meant to handle everything on our own, which is why we feel weighed down with all of that stress.
If you are at all like me, you are probably so used to carrying the loads of anxiety, stress, and worries on your shoulders that you sometimes find it hard to really let go and give Him your burdens. But, He has promised to care for us, guide us, and provide for us. He is ready to take over our anxieties because He loves us! Give it all over to God once and for all!
God has given us so many courageous and peaceful words in the Bible. I get equipped with a couple of these scriptures, for all of my battles with stress and anxiety.
Phillippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.”
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
And this one, that is on our little calendar today. I love how our Two Hearts inspirational calendar hits right along the lines of exactly what I need to read each day:
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not be worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
So, my friends, I hope you read through this and feel it in your heart to give all of your anxiety and stress over to Him, you aren’t meant to carry it all alone! He is waiting! ♥♥♥
