Weekend Recap: First weekend in August

Good morning!

I hope you had a wonderful first weekend in August! Did you do anything super summer like and fun? I feel like the summer is almost over and we have yet to do summer time things. Pretty much all this girl wants to do is go to a (tropical) beach, lay my bum in the lounge chair under the warm sun, and get a TAN. I think for once in my life I would rather go on a beach vacation than to Disney. Oh my gosh, can you believe what you just read? No. I can’t either. But it is true, friends.

Okay, enough with the whining. Today is Monday; a new day, a new week, and a fresh new start! It is going to be a beautiful, HOT, day out around here, and even though I have no plans I get to spend time with Michael later on…so I am pretty excited about that. 🙂

This weekend was (is…since it is still technically my “weekend”) exactly what I needed. Remember how I took crazy NAPS last weekend? Well yes ya’ll, this girl took more naps this weekend. I don’t know what is going on, but I just went with it and allowed myself to do it. Along with those naps, I got some great workouts in, spent time with my nephews, and even got to spend time with Michael yesterday!

Friday after work, I went to Starbucks and then drove on over to the farm stand to get some fruit. I don’t really know what is up with that place, because it isn’t like it’s “freshly grown” here in Massachusetts (besides the strawberries and blueberries in summer time, and then apples in the fall), but the fruit is WAY MORE delicious and fresh than if I got it at the grocery store. And, bonus: it is cheaper! I can literally get every fruit and veggie I would get at the grocery store (watermelon, pineapple, apples, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, broccoli, lettuce) and end up spending probably around half as much as I would at the grocery store. On my way home, I got myself a salad and got home just in time to miss getting stuck in some more thunderstorms. (Literally, we have been having some crazzzyyy storms lately, and you all know how much I love those). Once I got home, I made some egg salad rolls to put in the fridge for Michael for the weekend. They are so easy to make, and he loves them…so I love making them for him! A little while later, I put on Shahs of Sunset while I ate dinner, which can we talk about for a second? I forgot how much I love that show. Like LOVE. And Destiney being on the show just makes it sooooo great! I love her. She is so hilarious! After Shahs, I put on the latest episode of RHONY while getting a bodyweight workout in, and then tried my hardest to watch RHOC before I shut it off after not even 10 minutes of watching. I don’t know what it is, but I cannot stand this season or those ladies. I think last season I felt the same, but I still watched it regardless. This season I just cannot. I am a little sad about it though because RHOC was the very first real housewives series that I ever got into and I have loved forever. Oh well. I can do without, because I just can’t standdddd it. So, anyways, I put on a Hallmark Channel movie and fell in complete love with the one that was on (Royal Matchmaker), and may or may not have even shed a happy tear at the ending. 😉

Saturday I woke up with a pounding headache, but luckily I took some migraine pills to lessen the pain, which helped a bit. I started my workout with some stretching, followed by a 20 minute full body workout, and then a 45 minute incline walk. I didn’t want to run and have my head feel like a million pound brick was inside of it…you know what I mean? So, I walked real fast and called it a day. I thought my headache was getting better until I went into work and smelt some perfume from one of our customers (who was so so nice) that spent around two and a half hours there. Enter: intense migraine. Like literally my whole face and head were hurting so badly that it was making me feel nauseous. Luckily when she left I sprayed our whole store with some spray, but I just couldn’t shake the pain. I came home for lunch and took more migraine pills and said some intense prayers. My Mom was nice enough (so awesome, she is the best!) to let me just stay home and rest. I ended up taking a nap because you all know I was literally in a panic about feeling nauseous. (If you don’t remember my phobia, check out this post where I had written about it.) I ended up waking up feeling MUCH better! Hallelujah! I stayed in my dark room for a little longer until I ventured out into the sunlight to get a Starbucks and pick up a salad for dinner. The rest of the night was spent watching the Hallmark Channel. I was so afraid that the dreaded headache turned migraine would return, so I snuggled with my loveys until bedtime.

Sunday morning I woke up extremely sore, but headache free! Praise Jesus! I actually slept in a couple minutes later than usual, which felt glorious even if it was 10 minutes. For a workout I just did a 20 minute cardio and abs circuit, and happily greeted Michael at the door when he returned home from work. That man has been working like a crazy robot and literally only slept for one hour before coming to church with me. I don’t know how he does it, but he is amazing! Church was wonderful. Once we got home, Michael headed to jujitsu training and I went to my sister’s house to play with my nephews. They are the sweetest boys in the whole world and I just can’t get enough of them! I think I said “love you” to them around 30 times yesterday. Anyone else tell their children/nephews/nieces that you love them over and over and over again? Oh, and I still obsessively kiss their faces and smell them. Hahaha. Weirdo Auntie. But seriously, I can’t be the only one! Mamas!! I know you feel me! 😉 I came home a little while later to catch up on some reading (currently I am reading Church of the Small Things by Melanie Shankle), and NAP (I was literally exhuasted) until Michael got home from training. Once he was home, we watched the latest episode of The Challenge and then ran some errands. On our way back home, we picked up some dinner and a movie. We rented Overboard with Anna Farris. Guys, this movie was seriously good. I don’t usually like movies that speak in another language in some parts and have subtitles (like really, I can’t stand it), but this movie was awesome. I really liked it! Eugenio Derbez was hilarious!!

This morning started with a 30 minute abs and arm circuit, followed by a 40 minute run/walk on the treadmill. I don’t really have any plans today, and that is a-okay with me, because  I don’t really remember a Monday where I didn’t have an appointment to get to, so I am totally going to enjoy this! I’ll be back tomorrow with another Disney post! Stay tuned 🙂

I hope you have a beautiful day, loves! Xoxo ♥♥
