Weekend Recap: Rain, rain, go away

Hey hey party people! Just kidding. We aren’t partiers today, it is Tuesday. But then again if you are like me and instantly have that song Club Goin’ Up On A Tuesday song stuck in your head now, I guess we should all be partying on a Tuesday. 😉 Wish I was partying, but instead I am going to work. Boo hoo.

I just want to start with saying, I AM SO SICK OF RAIN. It has been rainy and yucky all weekend long and now I am singing rain, rain, go AWAY! Can a girl get a little bit of sunshine, pretty please? It has been raining for what feels like forever and I don’t see an end to it anytime soon. Can you tell I am pretty much over it, am going stir crazy, and want to book a flight to wherever it is sunny, warm, and all things tropical (cough Bahamas cough)?! Okay, but to be honest I am being a whiny brat about it because all I want to do is plop my body onto a beach chair (alright, I lied, a pool chair…because even though I love the beach, I am more of a pool girl with a nice view of the beach) and stick my whole body in the burning sun and never come back here again. Is that really too much to ask for? Apparently yes. Yes it is too much to ask for and I must ask for attainable things. Alright. Rant over. You must feel so happy that you now know my insane thoughts that rainy days give me.31a5bb9d

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Please share with me if you did anything that included fun, sunshine, and warm weather, because mine was so NOT like that. I pretty much stayed in our apartment all weekend and I think by the time last night rolled around, I was going crazy. If you haven’t figured it out, I have an issue with doing “nothing” and staying put all day. I am usually on the go all the time because that is just how I am….I can’t sit still. I promise. Ask my Mama.

Alrighty, enough with the blabbering. Let’s get into a recap and rewind to what my super  duper exciting weekend looked like.

Friday morning started with a fantasticccc workout. I promise. It was really good and exactly what I needed. I was really in the mood to do a fierce and sweaty and all things kick butt workout. I started with an ab and arm circuit that took around 20 minutes, followed by a 45 minute run/incline walk, and then finished it off with 15 minutes of a cardio circuit I made up because I just couldn’t get over how pumped up I was feeling once I got off the treadmill. Don’t you love when that happens?! It really makes you feel like your the bomb.com 😉 Thank the Lord I got in a good workout, because my day was less than stellar and by the time work was over and was on my way home, I really just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. But instead, I got myself a Starbucks tea and put a smile on my face. Okay, maybe I didn’t really put a smile on my face, and maybe I came home to lay in bed with my loveys (yes, all 4 of them) for a good hour before venturing out into the world again to pick up a salad for dinner. And when I was done eating said dinner, I went over to my sister’s house for some baby snuggles. (How much longer is it acceptable for me to call them “babies”…because I am not, and probably will ever be, ready to stop calling them that?!!?!) There is nothing better than getting smothered by your nephews whom you love so very much. Nothing. Nothing at all.

Saturday I woke up kinda early because I had a couple things to do in the morning. I got in an hour long run/incline walk on the treadmill before getting ready for work. I also got in a quick 15 minute cardio circuit during my lunch break too, while watching The Parent Trap. I don’t know if you know this, but I love getting short bursts of exercising in during the day (especially when Michael is working, because I don’t just want to sit on the couch all day and night and be a lazy loser), whether it be a full on circuit or just a couple rounds of jumping jacks, squats, push ups, or anything to get my heart rate going! Anyways, I pretty much did nothing on Saturday besides go over my parent’s when my sister and nephews were over for a while. It was yucky outside, and I was totally fine with going home, snuggling up and watching tv for the night. I caught up on the latest episode of Shahs of Sunset (LOVE that show) and watched Cinderella. 🙂

Sunday I woke up a little later than usual, leaving just enough time to get in a quick 20 minute ab workout before getting ready for church. It was another yucky, rainy, dreary day outside, which you guessed it made me feel blah. Michael and I went to church, which was so so good! We literally did nothing all day. And, like I said, I am not good at doing nothing. But I know Michael really needed it because he only got one hour of sleep when he got home from work in the morning before going to church. He napped, and I aimlessly scrolled through Instagram and got stuck in the comparison trap and feeling kind of yucky about myself but quickly remembered that I need to snap out of it and I am not going to listen to that crap. BOOM! Once Michael was up from a nap, we went to Starbucks….praise Jesus, I literally felt like I was going CRAY inside the house all day. We went over to my parent’s house since my sister, brother in law, and nephews were over too. The boys had fun playing with Michael (or more like beating him up, haha).

Yesterday for my workout I did a 40 minute incline walk…I wasn’t really feeling it. It was another gross day outside and the whole “blah” feeling was lingering. Luckily I had a hair appointment for a blow out in the morning, even though I had no plans, and even though it was not a good day weather wise for pretty hair, it made me feel a bit better. A little later in the morning I went over to my sister’s house to hangout and play with the boys. Then, just like on Sunday, I did nothing all day. I had no motivation to go anywhere or do anything because of how gross it was outside. I actually finally got around to paint my toes because they had been naked for so long, so that was a plus, and I also cleaned a whole bunch! Later in the day, Michael was home from jujitsu training and getting his hair cut (oh did he desperately need one, it’s like he is a new man!), so we went to get some dinner, then went home to watch Ballers and Power. OH MY GOSH….Power ya’ll. I just can’t handle it, and we have to wait two more weeks for another episode! AH!

This morning I really wasn’t feeling it still. It’s another gloomy, rainy day and I was whining about getting out of bed. I just didn’t want to. But then I remembered I didn’t have a good workout all weekend, and since the fact I have been laying around doing a whole bunch of nothing all weekend, I probably have gained a million pounds so I better get my butt moving. I started my workout with a 15 minute ab workout, then hopped on the treadmill and started with an incline walk for 15 minutes, but then pushed myself to a crazy HIIT circuit of sprinting for 30 seconds, off for 30 seconds, and repeating that 10 times, I finished with an easy run pace for 20 more minutes. I was one sweaty monster after, but I needed it and now I am feeling a billion times better!

Even though we didn’t do anything this weekend, I am very glad I got to do nothing with my husband…because you know every chance I get to spend with him is the best time ever no matter what. I am just feeling so blessed and so thankful that I got to spend the rainy, yucky weekend with him! 🙂

Have a beautiful day! Xoxo ♥♥

  1. Ugh, I feel you on the rain and feeling cooped up in the house. It’s not a good feeling and usually makes me discontent and like everything is going wrong. But I’m glad you got to do nothing and spend time with your family! Hoping you get some sunshine and pool days soon! <3

    1. Thank you girl! I hope I do too, but I dont see it happening anytime soon 🙁 hahaha. Have a great week! Xoxo

  2. Boo for weekend rain. Central IL got really really lucky this past weekend. I ran 21 miles on Sunday morning in the MOST perfect weather ever. Others probably would have complained about the heat … BUT I prefer to run in the heat. HEAT = loose muscles = Happy Lindsay! How is your wine & dine race training going??
