Valentine’s Day 2019

Happy FRIDAY! And happy day after Valentine’s Day! I hope you had a beautiful day filled with so much love!

My Valentine’s Day was filled with lots of love and laughs. I started my day doing what I love the most: working out! I did three obé classes: sculpt, HIIT, and another sculpt. And kept that theme of “doing what I love” all day long: I visited my Mom, spent time with my nephew Enzo while Gio was in school, picked up Gio from school, surprised them both with Valentine’s gifts, spent the night with Michael, and also of course surprised him with a present and was surprised with one too!

This Valentine’s Day made FOURTEEN years that Michael and I have been celebrating this special day of love together! Can you believe that? Yes, we were babies when we started “dating” and thinking back to it I can’t believe we have been together that long! It still feels the same…I still get butterflies in my tummy with him and I fall more in love with him every single day!

In the past, we normally went out to dinner either the day before or the day after Valentine’s Day to avoid the crowds and because Michael usually had to work, and we don’t really go “all out” for it, but we do like to celebrate it! (But, we don’t need one day to make each other feel special, we do that any and every day of the year, but it is nice to have one day of being spoiled and reminded that you are loved!) Every year for Valentine’s Day (whether the day before, weekend before, or the day/weekend after) we go to the same restaurant we have been going to since we were dating.

This year I was extremely happy Michael wasn’t working all day and night for Valentine’s Day, and once he got out of work we were able to spend the rest of the special day together! He surprised me with a gigantic teddy bear, one that if you follow me on Instagram you will know that I posted a picture of it on my stories a little bit ago tagging Michael and wrote “want that” (haha), but never brought it up to him in person…so I wasn’t really thinking he would actually go out and search for this teddy bear. But since he is such a sweetheart, he totally got it! With two bouquets of roses (red roses and ivory roses), because one was just simply not enough. SO SWEET!

Dinner, like last year, and years past, was at Dino’s Restaurant in Worcester, Ma. It is a little Italian restaurant that is on a dead end street (literally, at the end of a dead end neighborhood) but is such a gem! You know those feel good Italian restaurants with amazing (and homemade) food? This is one of those. The smells of that Italian food takes me back to my Grammy and Grampy’s house on Sunday night dinners and most of all Christmas Eve. Heaven, I tell you. Pure heaven.

We really got lucky with this reservation because I didn’t think Michael wanted to go out for Valentine’s Day and I was totally fine with a night in our jammies at home, but I told him that if he wanted to go out to dinner he should call and make a reservation. He told me the day before that he really wanted to go out (YAY!) so I had to call to see if we could make a reservation. Talk about last minute….I expressed how my sweet sweet husband never called to make a reservation and if there was any way they would squeeze us in to celebrate love day. Somehow they worked their magic and got us in for 6pm! Yippee!

We arrived at dinner where we were escorted to our table. Now, it wasn’t the best table (it was actually badddd). It was really small, up on a balcony, all the way at the end near the wall, so we were pretty much crammed into the corner, where we couldn’t see the rest of the restaurant, and it was kinda dark (bad for pictures, warning). It also felt like we were eating dinner with the couple(s) next to us. BUT we didn’t complain about it or anything because we were just happy to be out and celebrating our love! Once we were seated at this super small table, we each ordered a drink: I got a glass of champagne and Michael got a cocktail (he always gets Hendrick’s and soda), and we cheers’ed to our LOVE!

For starters, we were given a basket of bread with butter, and their AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS bruschetta. Guys, I know I said this last year but THIS is what I look forward to whenever we go here. It is sooooo good. I could literally eat it alone and regret not asking for some to take home with us. Haha. (I am using the picture I took last year, because the picture I took this year is just not good at all…it looks much more appetizing from last year.)

For our meals, I ordered a large garden salad with balsamic vinegar, and a side order of their homemade gnocchis with red sauce. Michael ordered angel hair pasta with red sauce and a basket of their garlic bread. *We are creatures of habit guys, what can I say? We always order the same thing here. (Minus last year’s meatballs from Michael’s plate…because he isn’t eating meat at the moment). Clearly, my salad had way too much purple cabbage and shredded carrots on top, but I just picked that off the top before eating it.

Clearly, the lighting was horrifically dark and just not good, but I tried to take some pictures for you guys, but the flash going off every second during our meal was super obnoxious..haha. Overall, we had a great dinner, but looking back at my post from last year, I think it was a good idea to go out to dinner the night before Valentine’s Day…the plates of food looked better, we had a better table (a booth, actually), and weren’t just crammed into the back corner of the restaurant. So, I am taking note for next year to go to dinner the day before if we can, and maybe do something else on the actual day! But, I have to say, I really had a great time, maybe it just had to do with the fact that I was happy to be out with my handsome husband, celebrating! 🙂

This morning started with a quick 2.5 mile run, followed by sculpt and dance on obé. Michael and I are going to a marriage conference at our church later tonight, so I am excited about that since we have never been to one before. What better way to celebrate the day after Valentine’s Day than by going to a marriage conference to strengthen our marriage?! 😉

Have a fabulous Friday, and a wonderful weekend! Xoxo

  1. Just wanted to comment and tell you that yesterday my fiance and I were in Disney at Hollywood Studios and went to 50’s Prime Time Cafe per your recommendation and we both LOVED it and said it was the best part of our day. Thank you for the recommendation : )

  2. I am so glad you had such an amazing Valentine’s Day with your husband! It sounds like he knocked it out of the park with his gifts. I am also so jealous of the gnocchi it looks delicious! I don’t think I have ever had a really good gnocchi from a mom & pop Italian restaurant. I’ll definitely try to remind you next year to go to your favorite Italian restaurant before or after V-day! <3

    1. Thank you so much doll! He definitely did so good, as always! 😉 their food is so yummy! I already told Michael as well that we are going to dinner before or after the day next year, so let’s hope we remember that. Haha Thank you!! Xoxo
